One mosquito in the bedroom is enough to ruin a night: the buzz by your ear, the bites in the morning, the light on at 3 a.m. Most of the fix is not chemical at all. It is about keeping them from getting in, and making the room a hard place to find you. Here is what actually works, what is a waste of money, and the inexpensive AliExpress gear that does the job.

Why mosquitoes end up in your bedroom
Mosquitoes find people by the carbon dioxide we breathe out and our body heat, and at night a sleeping person is an easy target. They get in through open windows and doors without screens, through small holes in old screens, and they breed in standing water close to home: plant saucers, buckets, blocked gutters, a pet's water bowl left outside. A few days of standing water is enough for a new generation.
What works and what does not
- Screens on windows and doors: the most effective fix. If they cannot get in, there is nothing to fight. Self-adhesive screens and magnetic door curtains fit rented homes too, no drilling.
- A bed net: excellent for sleep. It protects you even when a mosquito is already in the room, and it is the safest option for small children.
- A fan by the bed: underrated. Mosquitoes are weak flyers and struggle in a steady breeze, which also spreads the CO2 you breathe out.
- Electric swatter: good for the one that got in. Fast, no chemicals, and it charges over USB.
- UV lamp traps: limited. Mosquitoes are drawn more by CO2 and heat than by light, so these lamps catch fewer mosquitoes than the box suggests. Models with a suction fan do a little better, as an extra.
- Repellent patches and bracelets: weak. They protect, at most, the area right around them. For real protection on the skin, use a repellent from the pharmacy with an approved active ingredient.
- Ultrasonic repellers: do not work. Studies have repeatedly found no effect on mosquitoes, so we did not include any, even though they sell very well.

β FAQ
What is the best way to keep mosquitoes out of a bedroom?
Screens on the windows and doors, so they cannot get in, plus a bed net if mosquitoes still get through. A fan by the bed helps a lot on top of that.
Do ultrasonic mosquito repellers work?
No. Independent studies have found no effect on mosquitoes, which is why none are on this list.
Do mosquito lamps work?
Only partly. Mosquitoes look for CO2 and body heat more than light, so a UV lamp catches some of them, mainly as an extra next to screens.
Are repellent patches and bracelets worth it?
Their effect is weak and limited to the area around them. For outdoor evenings, a skin repellent from the pharmacy with an approved active ingredient protects much better.
How much does it cost with AliExpress products?
The products on this list cost between $1.01 and $20.87. A few window screens and a door curtain usually cost less than one professionally fitted screen.
How long does shipping take?
It depends on the seller and the shipping method. The product page shows the estimated delivery date to your country before you pay.
